About Us

First introduced to the web during a college design class in 1995, Marsi McGurn knew creating websites was her calling. Because widespread use of the internet (and designing websites) was so new, finding places to learn about website design was challenging. So, she decided to take any course she could find, study website design on the internet and read every book about the new emerging media she could get her hands on.

While working at various design firms in San Diego, Marsi started blackbookDESIGN, working on freelance projects after hours and on weekends. Finally, in 2006, she decided to pursue her freelance career full-time. Business has been booming ever since, thanks to her wonderful clients, referrals, and incredible network of back-end programmers, marketing specialists, designers, and project managers.

Marsi has a professional background in Graphic Design in addition to a Web Development & Technologies certificate from UCSD. She has managed over 200 projects and is a certified Project Manager Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute (PMI). When not working at the computer, Marsi enjoys spending time with the family - which includes two labrador retrievers, remodeling the house, exercising and traveling.
